There's a new trend in town, and I have a funny feeling my high school math teacher is rolling around in his grave. Yes, Mr. Meyer, I really will use geometry when I'm all grown up. I mean, you can't blame a gal for doubting. Who knew geometry could look this good?

Geometric flooring is all the rage, and I've scouted a few of my favorites for anyone else that may be doubting their math teachers, as well. I've even categorized them by flooring finish. I know, so scholastic of me! This one's for you, Mr. Meyer!

WOOD
It only seems fitting that we start with this Neoclassical design from pattern goddess Allison Cosmos. The sweet button-inspired pattern has me weak in the knees --- something that hasn't happened since I brushed elbows with my cutie lab partner in Mr. Meyer's 4th period algebra class (See! there's that math talk again!).

MARBLE / LIMESTONE
Geometric flooring works well with limestone and marble finishes, too. David Hicks' line for Studium is equally stunning, full of inspired patterns and jaw-dropping designs.

CONCRETE
No round-up is complete without a fun DIY project, right? HGTV shows you how to paint a faux area rug on any concrete space, and I'd love to see the process taken to a new level --- a faux geometric floor. Follow the pattern and tutorial for a fabulously unique floor that you'll never mind cleaning!

TILE
Tile queen Ann Sacks is no stranger to pattern, and her geometric designs are some of the best I've seen. Perfect for a small space, the tile plays with scale without looking gaudy. And yes, I said gaudy. Now I'm channeling my high school home ec teacher. Gracious.

CARPET
Not sure you're committed to the look? Test the waters with a geometric rug and see how you like it. I can almost guarantee you'll be ready to say "I Do" faster than Khloe Kardashian at her shotgun wedding.
