elle decor, table setting, fall tablePhoto: Elle Decor

I use the same philosophy when setting a table as I do when decorating a room: mix and match, shun matching sets in favor of items that have personality and significance. It's the same concept behind this beautiful table setting from Elle Décor. Wouldn't it be the perfect update to a traditional Thanksgiving table?

The table setting's strength is its element of surprise--elegant colors, patterns and textures are paired with fabulous rustic flatware. Wooden salt and pepper shakers share the table with a gold salt spoon. It's light and heavy, playful (love that pheasant motif!) yet serious.

For your own table, consider using small bowls or condiment pots filled with spices, herbs or sauces as functional pieces of eye candy. For more tips on achieving this luxe look for less, check out the lookalike products in the gallery below.
