Thanksgiving Crafts: Scrapbook Paper Leaf Garland
Categories: DIY: Done in a Day

As Erin reported earlier this summer, decorative garlands are the latest trendy home accent. Here at ShelterPop we love garlands for the touch of whimsy they bring to a room -- we also like them for being easy-as-pie to make. For the autumnal season, I crafted a faux foliage garland out of rough-hewn twine and patterned, scrapbook paper.
To make your own garland you will need: Several yards of twine, patterned scrapbook paper (I recommend using double-sided papers so that the garland will look good from both sides), scissors and a hole punch. You can either draw your own leaves by hand or use our downloadable leaf templates. Trace leaf-shapes onto your paper and cut them out. Then, punch a hole in the base of each leaf.
To assemble the garland, string the twine through the holes of the leaves, tying each leaf into place with a simple knot. Leave a few inches of space between each leaf and the next. String your garland up wherever you fancy -- hung along the edge of a shelf or draped over a favorite framed photograph it will be the perfect touch of fall for your home!
