The Prettiest Seeds Return!

Earlier this year, I wrote about The Hudson Valley Seed Library's Art Packs, heirloom seeds packaged in artist-designed wrappers. For this project, local artists created a painting or drawing for a seed packet. The artworks represented the plants that the seeds would someday become.

The Art Packs were a runaway success, so HVSL decided to hold a second contest for local artists to submit images for a second round of Art Packs. The results of the contest became the 2010 collection of Art Packs, which are now available through The Hudson Valley Seed Library's website.

Once again, the Art Packs will come in flower-shaped packets made from recycled paper and vegetable-based inks, which were created by package design company TreeoDesign. As HVSL says, "whether you collect them for the frame-able artwork, the open-pollinated seeds, or both," you should hurry to buy them before they sell out again!
