File this under "adorably educational." Tio, the friendly ghost light switch, is designed to teach kiddies to conserve energy by becoming increasingly agitated after over eight hours of use. I don't know about your child, but visions of an angry ghost on my wall make me shudder a bit. Fear is the ultimate motivator, yes?

Not only is Tio a visible reminder to switch off your lights when not in use, but Tio's internal programming links to a computer program where the child can monitor his/her own "virtual treehouse." Offering educational news about energy conservation, the computer program is designed to create an in-depth understanding of how one child's actions relate to the world's energy supply.

Smart, right? I wonder what they'll make for us grown-ups...
