There's nothing I love more than a creative chandelier. Instantly warming the space and adding a personal touch, innovative lighting can go a long way when decorating any room. Especially in a world of the norm -- Think: capiz shells, pendants and crystal.

Enter a fun and crafty solution from the fine folks at Pottery Barn. The Wakefield Chandelier creates a constantly evolving display of photographs, postcards and even dried botanicals...all while providing the perfect mood lighting for your space. Sure, the concept is fantastic, but the price tag is a hefty $300.

Eek. That certainly breaks the bank for a quirky chandelier, doesn't it? Of course, I don't like to take 'no' for an answer, so I set out to find a way to DIY the look. My first thought was to unearth a rotating guest check holder a la vintage diner, but alas, the price was still pretty far up there at $220. My next idea requires a bit of handy know-how, but it fits the bill perfectly...

Order an earring rack for twenty bucks. Remove any floral decorative touches and hang on its end to reflect the tiered chandelier of Pottery Barn's Wakefield model. From there, I'd purchase a few bulldog clips (or use paperclips for items you don't mind poking a hole in) and hang away!

Of course, you'll need to install a basic lighting kit, which can run around ten bucks. Still, you've created a crafty, DIY chandelier for less than the price of a mani/pedi. Amazing!

Start saving those love notes...you've got some displaying to do!
