Life can be so, so sweet with these three last-minute holiday decor ideas. Photo: Canadian House & Home
So -- the gifts are wrapped, the food is made and holiday invites are out the door for tomorrow's soiree. You've got less than 24 hours to spruce up your pad for this year's holiday bash -- not a lotta time, and certainly not a lotta budget. What to do?
Try these three smashing ideas that are sure to impress any guest this season:
1. Ribbon Lighting
Have a chandelier? Have some leftover gift wrap? You're in luck. With a bit of ingenuity (and a lot of tape!), you can create the luxurious look of ribbon lighting over your holiday table (pictured right). To create the look, make sure the end of the ribbons reach the table's surface for a cascading effect.
2. An Ornamental Fireplace
Sure, you can't quite roast chestnuts this way, but the aesthetic result is sweeter than sugarplums. Recreate the look by arranging a few different sized ornaments in a non-working fireplace. To dress it up in a pinch, add a touch of garland and you're set to go!
3. Floating Placecards
Forget placecards on the table and make room for more food! Why not hang a few ornamental placecards from the back of your dining chairs? The look is luxurious, and the table will be fuss-free.
Proof that to decorate your home for the holidays, all you need is a few hours and a few fantastic ideas.
