Trend Watch: Colored Grout

Why settle for boring grey grout? Bostik TruColor Pre-Mixed Grout comes in 20 versatile shades. TruColor is a pre-mixed, water-based, urethane grout, which offers stain protection and crack resistance for tile installation. According to manufacturer Bostik, the pre-mixed formulation installs "up to 50 percent faster than traditional grouts, and never needs to be sealed."

Admittedly, when I first heard about Bostik's TruColor Pre-Mixed Grout, I had visions of cherry red grout with coordinating red tiles or bright blue grout outlining white subway tile.

So, I was a little disappointed when I realized the grout actually comes in shades of brown, beige, and muted blue-greys. However, the flexibility to match grout to common tile colors is a real advantage and some of the more unique shades could look great as an accent around crisp, white tile. Plus, the pre-mixed formula sounds very D.I.Y. friendly.
