Which is real and which is the copy? The world may never know... Photo(s), left to right: Lindsey Adelman, The Brick House

In these tough economic times, you'd be hard-pressed to find a designer promoting a DIY version of their own product. After all, a magician never reveals their tricks...unless, of course, that magician is lighting extraordinaire Lindsey Adelman. Although her chandeliers are stunning, glamorous and drool-worthy, they're hardly affordable for most at upwards of $10,000.

Yet Adelman was kind enough to do something daring: post her own design hack on her website -- for all to enjoy. Now with a bit of design know-how and roughly $120 for parts, you too can own a Lindsey Adelman original (sort of). Here's hoping Adelman's generosity is part of a new trend for 2010: designer DIYs for us poor folk.

The best part? It's been tried, tested and true. Download the instructions and see for yourself.
