Sure, your days of bunking as a kid may be long gone, and chances are, you have memories of your older brother threatening to pee on the top bunk while you snooze below (or was that just me?).
Yet bunk beds are re-surfacing everywhere, from impromptu guest rooms to minimalist lofts, thanks to some uber-stylish options to choose from.
Why not invest in a modern design for your sister's family of four that flies in to visit for vacation? Or, channel your inner child and set up shop in a finished basement for movie marathons with your 8-year-old nephew. Wherever you choose to place them, these bunks are up to the challenge!

Both practical and gorgeous, the Duet incorporates unprecedented amounts of storage: two cabinets, six open cubbies and three drawers under the bottom bed. The upper cabinet is fully accessible from the top bunk, so lucky kids (or us adults!) can stash books, movies and extra blankets.

Part of a new range of wood and loden fabric children's furniture from Austrian furniture makers Perludi, the AMBERintheSKY boasts plywood and structural elements combined with a flexible yet highly durable fabric covering. The lower platform is positioned almost at ground level and can act as a play or "nest" area, yet with the simple addition of a mattress it can be quickly turned into a second bed. Go, multi-purpose furniture!
You're craving one, aren't you? I know...I know.

When there are still millions of women who call themselves "homemakers", there is no way that Martha Stewart is "over". Every homemaker wants her home to be the best she can make it for her family. She wants it to reflect her expertise in doing everything from decorating, cooking, cleaning and entertaining, to making it downright homey, comfortable and stunning. Martha shows us how to "do it all" and with elegant ease, and affordability. Even those who think her ideas and recipes are "too expensive" know that they can create an inexpensive substitute which will still have elegance, style and good taste. We will always love you Martha, and hope you keep going for many more years.
ReplyAhh, how nice to see bunk beds. We never had them or even knew others who did. We had enough rooms for the entire family plus. Our house had twelve bedrooms not including maids quarters or gardeners wing. Of course enough full bathrooms to easily accommodate as well and powder rooms. Oh what fun to have all fire places going during one winter storm when so many guests who wound up snowed in were forced to stay over till the drive and connecting roadways could be cleared. WE had all sorts of bed, sleigh, canopy, Chinese Wedding, platform, kings and queens, but not in not one room bunks. Perhaps we could purchase them for one of our places or even a guest lodge. I feel so very deprived of what seems a fun sort of way to share sleeping accommodations.
ReplyOh, you made me laugh. No Louis Quatorze? LMAO
Please let me know how the adverage home can afford $3000 bunk beds? I'm lucky to be able to afford a $300 bed for the master bedroom!

ReplyHad a bunk in my sons room. Found it a little difficult to change sheets on the top bunk. On the bottom, I was able to slide the matress out and change them that way. I vowed never to get another bunk bed!
ReplyOh good grief! This is just free advertising for the makers of these ridiculously priced bunk beds. Bunk beds are NOT back in "style" unless you are 9 years old and have to share a room with your snot nosed 5 year old brother. They are dangerous, most are incorrectly built, and they are UGLY. If you try to sell your house, just wait...your realtor will say "ummm...you really need to get rid of those BUNK BEDS." LMAO.
Reply2k-3k for bunk beds? there isnt 400$ worth of material in any of those, bunk beds are simple to build no real skill needed at all, my son in his college days made them in his dorm room for 50$ worth of 2x4s and 2x6s and sold them to others for 100$/and they lasted the buyers their entire time at school/ that someone would pay that price for beds is just their stupidity showing
