Breaking: It's true! HGTV and Hearst to launch HGTV Magazine!

With the recent demise of shelter publications across the country, there is certainly an opportunity for a fresh face among the rows and racks of magazines. And according to New York Magazine, HGTV is lined up to be on top.

It wouldn't be the first win for Hearst. After launching Food Network Magazine last year in partnership with Food Network, the publication has been a runaway success, "tripling its circulation in a year's time," according to a spokesperson for Hearst.

And with shelter magazines folding left and right, the gaping hole is more than ready to be filled. Moreover, HGTV may just be a likely replacement in today's economy, as the network tackles topics from buying your first home to sprucing up your for-sale property...and everything in between.

As for an upcoming announcement from the network, we're still waiting with bated breath. A spokesperson for Hearst would only say this: "Regarding launches, we speak to someone about a new magazine idea every week but we have nothing official to report at this time."

You should know the answer to that one. I'm so glad there is more than one tv in this house, one being in my room. My mom and sister watch the network every day, I hope they don't find out about a magazine.

HGTV has sunk to an all time low with this latest news. Really, what does this woman have to contribute to the channel. I checked her website last year to see what the big hype was about and what I found was disgusting. She is a foul-mouthed woman who thinks she has great advice to give mothers. She has no qualifications. She has a blog that rambles on and on. She seems to think she is someone very important. Give me a break. She is making a lot of money on her website by writing about a whole lot of nothing laden with filthy language. It seems like she thinks she deserves some award for being a mother. I am a mother and I have no respect for this woman. I will NOT be tuning in to HGTV to watch this idiot.

HGTV used to be good several years back when they actually did home improvements on several good programs. Now it is lame. Paint, throw rugs and moving furniture around are poor excuses for home improvements.

Sorry HGTV haters...the shows are inspiring and interesting. At least I don't have to watch Soaps where it is full of sex or Judge Angry and think she know's it all and then there is Who's the baby's daddy. That just covers the daytime issues. There are a lot of channels to choose from and I choose HGTV and would look forward to a magazine. You can have your ESPN and Field and Stream. I am surprised that anyone who hates this channel would even comment...you obviously watch!!!!

I think HGTV makes us covet things we can't afford, and they keep changing what's in. When I see these 20 or 30 somethings looking for a house, they want everything - granite, stainless steel, hardwood floors, fancy bathrooms, etc., and want to finance it 100% .A few years ago, they urged everyone to paint rooms, or at least an accent wall, red to make it POP. Now, when Sharon Freeman goes through a red room, she says she feels like she's drowning in a vat of port wine. Before, they had people doing faux finishes on the walls - now that's out, but it makes me angry that thinks that I have done because they suggested it, are now passe and somehow I should feel bad because my house is "out of date".

HGTV was my favorite channel when it was about decorating and had some great decorators showing us their stuff. At night now all it is is House Hunting, International House Hunting, My First Place, on and on =BORING. I have a house and I want more of my old HGTV. Help me keep up with the trends, show me furniture choices, and where to find them. HGTV has certainly become the vast wasteland that TV can be. Fix the channel before you launch a magazine.
