Now this is a house that makes the most of its wood pile.
When designer
Piet Hein Eek received a request from a customer desiring a log shack in his field, Eek was excited from the start. "It sometimes happens that you are asked to produce something you have actually wanted to do for some time," he writes.
He calls it the
Tree-Trunk Garden House.
A seemingly everyday pile of logs actually houses Dutch music composer Hans Liberg in the Netherlands -- the perfect place to write, compose and dream. With exterior windows camouflaged by the logs themselves, this garden house isn't your average backyard getaway. "The windows and shutters are what really makes the difference," writes Eek. "The sliding windows are fitted into specially designed frames, although 'specially designed' is somewhat of an exaggeration for the simple plastic and steel profiles."
Inside, Liberg has plenty of space for instruments, seating and relaxation. And with a cool, calming interior paint color, there are plenty of relaxation opportunities.
"As the shack began to take shape, so did the enthusiasm of all those involved in its construction," Eek writes. It seems the enthusiasm begins with Liberg himself, as evident in a fun, quirky photo shoot from
Thomas Meyer. But then again, who wouldn't be excited about a customized secret getaway in the backyard?
Certainly not
us.
