Three fabric trends to watch for in 2010.

The snow has stopped falling and the ground is slowly thawing (slowly being the operative word!), and something tells me spring is right around the corner. Each year, around this time, I like to introduce a few more bright and cheery colors into my décor to welcome in the new season. This year, I've been spotting new fabric trends left and right -- some I love and some I don't. Regardless, these textiles trends are here to stay in 2010, and it's time we introduce them to you:

Patchwork

Patchwork is no longer just for quilters, children and cottages. In fact, I've been spotting patchwork prints in modern colors everywhere -- from sundresses to sun rooms. To incorporate the patchwork look into your home, start small or opt for a neutral patchwork, like this rug in varied textures from Urban Outfitters.

Our Top Picks:

1. Pastel Patchwork Quilt, $128, Urban Outfitters
2. Patchwork Curtains, contact for pricing, MeS Textiles
3. Wool Patchwork Rug, $148, Urban Outfitters

Geometrics
geometric textiles

Geometric shapes, especially triangles, are a huge trend in the art world, and right now I'm seeing the trend crossover into bedding. I'm always tickled pink to find fashion, art and décor merging together!

Our Top Picks:

1. John Robshaw's Arrowhead Sheet Set, $88 to $368, Anthropologie
2. UO Triangles Rug, $34, Urban Outfitters
3. Half Circle Pillow, $98, Jonathan Adler

Stripes
striped textiles, fabrics

Stripes are back with a vengeance this year. The new stripes harken back to last year's nautical phase, but you'll find 2010 introduces a toned-down take on the trend. Feel free to experiment with colored stripes: This neutral pattern will soften any bold colors you use.

Our Top Picks:

1. Bleach Stripe Rug, $48, Urban Outfitters
2. Stripe Print Sheet, $30 to $120, West Elm
3. Couchside Throw, $268, Anthropologie

Also on tap for fabric trends this year? Florals, Native-American-influenced designs and Moroccan-inspired patterns -- plenty of trends to kick off the new decade.
