You've never seen terrariums like these modern masterpieces.

LÍtill terrariums are not your average terrariums. Influenced by the minimalistic yet colorful ambiance of Palm Springs, Lauren's terrarium designs are miniature, modern works of art -- tiny, living sculptures for your home.

Prior to working as a photographer, Lauren made a living in a flower shop, which abruptly closed and left her with a handful of weekly accounts. Lauren had grown tired of the waste and toxins involved in the flower business, but she still had a desire to work with plants.

She began playing around with the contents of her clients' terrariums, changing something tiny here or there to make the terrarium more interesting.

Lauren then moved to New York to pursue photography, but plants and flowers were still calling her. So much so, that she began looking for a glassblower to work with so that she could design and create her very own terrarium vessels.

Once she found a glassblower, Lauren founded LÍtill, which is the Icelandic word for "tiny," which she feels "fit the aesthetic and the vibe of the design."

Lauren collaborates with a variety of other people to help piece together one of her masterpieces. First, Lauren comes up with a line drawing and dimensions, which she passes it on to her glass blower, who will craft the actual container.

Lauren then sources plants and cacti from all over. Each treasure inside the terrarium is carefully selected. "We try to choose very slow growing cacti and succulents, to ensure they don't grow out of the vessel," she explains. Her "cacti guy" has been working with cacti for over 50 years, and has passed on an invaluable amount of knowledge for on how to care for specific species.

I'd be sure to follow Lauren's care instructions very closely, as a LÍtill terrarium doesn't come cheap: They start at $125 for a 5" x 6" vessel, and can go as high as $500, depending on size.
