Bright idea: Kiss your boring coat rack goodbye!

coat hooks, entrywayHooked on coat hooks! Credit: Sweet Home Style

First impressions are often lasting, which is why the entrance to your house is such an important part of the home. Personally, entryways are one of my favorite areas of the home; I'm constantly styling and re-styling this portion of my simple abode.

This entryway (at right) speaks to me in the best way possible. I love everything about it: The serif house numbers in the transom window, the glossy black door, the mismatched hooks and lovely accessories displayed for all the world to see.

I'd normally prefer closed storage in an entryway to keep the area clean and clutter-free, but I'm drawn to this look for its personality-infused style. The eclectic look of all the various coat hangers speaks to my personal aversion to anything that matches -- except socks and paternal twins, of course. It's a fun and functional solution to storage in an entryway

Great Idea! I also think you could add some glass door knobs or vintage hooks or fun and funky cabinet knobs. www.alexisdesigns.net

identical twins are sometimes referred to as "paternal" or "maternal" twins, whereas non-identical twins are referred to as "fraternal".

It's a typo? Paternal twins? Maybe it should have been Fraternal twins?

Two separate eggs fertilized by two separate sperm at the same time. The woman ovulated two eggs at the same time, instead of one. She carries both babies to term and gives birth on the same day. She can also ovulate two eggs within hours or days of each other, and both can be fertilized and she can have both babies born the same day or hours/days apart!

Identical twins come when one fertilized egg splits into and ends up two babies that are identical.

This story must be from same person who decorates with bundt cake pans and coffee filters..sheesh..another ugly idea

This ridiculous idea must have originated from the same mind that painted all the books in the bookcase white and turned them with their pages toward the front of the bookcase. LOL

What are "paternal twins"? That would mean twins who are fathers. If she means "fraternal" twins, they aren't necessarily alike at all. One can be male and the other female. Identical twins would look alike and be of the same gender, of course. Who writes this stuff anyway?

Where do you get this designer? Yesterday was a horrible and today's choice is worse. Wake up..this stinks.

So glad I'm not the only one who didn't get the "paternal" twins thing--for a moment I doubted myself!
Not crazy about this design idea, except maybe for the very young--like a college apartment. I like eclectic design too, but this seems like a messy idea for a front entrance.

Cute idea, especially for an entry that opens directly into the living area, without a formal foyer. But you'd better have a good doorstop to keep from hitting the hooks with the door.

Fraternal twins are twins that don't look alike. Maternal twins are identical twins. I won't go into detail as to how it happens, but the writer must not know the difference. She should have used her dictionary when she proofed her story - if she proofed her story.

I think the entry looks junky. A doorstop would definitely be needed as someone noted, because otherwise the door would bump against all the things hanging on the wall.

Since the door opens in and would hit the left wall, why not put the hooks on the opposite wall. Personally, with an entry so small, I would simply place a narrow table on the opposite wall, place a mirror above the table, and put a large basket underneath the table to hold the things that are hanging on the hooks. The top of the table could have a pretty basket for keys and mail.

Am I the only one who saw this and thought, Willy Wonka! The original Gene Wilder one that is with the hands that grabbed their hats and coats.

This looks like trashy 70s decorating done by Haight Ashbury squatters. There nothing here that suggests personality or individuality. And just what are these fabulous accessories you want all the world to see? By the way, you're not supposed to want all the world to see the inside of your home. It's supposed to be private.
