From runway to real world, you can take tips from the catwalk for fashionable home decor.

Many fashion trends step right off the runway and into your home, even if you don't see the connection right away. Let's take a look at what was hot on the catwalk for Spring 2010 and see how those trends translate into home decor that is sure to match your Spring/Summer wardrobe.

1. Neutrals. Before you say, "Oh no not beige!" hear me out. When we say "neutrals," we mean ivories, fleshtones, ecrus, off-whites, and yes -- beige, but that doesn't mean that you need to go out and paint your entire room beige. In fact, please don't. Pier 1 Imports' selection of neutral home accessories for spring is far from blah. The texture and design of the pieces make up for the lack of color. Plus, these accessories will add some interest to your room without feeling overbearing.

2. Turquoise and Tomato Puree. These are the two hottest colors from Pantone's Spring 2010 color report. Adding these colors to your neutrals is sure to remove any blah feeling you might worry about having with a neutral palette. Target has some great dinnerware options to spice up your Spring tabletop. The ZaZen Crackle and American Simplicity in Sangria are my favorite, $80 and $50 respectively, for 16 pieces.

3. Abstract prints. These fresh, colorful prints are all over the runway, showing us that a crazy impressionistic print or painterly pair of pants can be an unexpected delight. The same is true in your home. The Dransfield & Ross "Slipware" bed linens is just one example of how this trend is slowly seeping into home decor. With pieces starting at $130, these ain't cheap, so if you're looking to add abstraction to your decor on a budget try shopping around for affordable artwork on sites like Etsy or 20x200.

4. Denim. Finally! A fashion trend that makes me feel like I'm always in style. I love it that this wardrobe staple works for the home, as well. Denim is a great fabric that can instantly make a room feel more casual and cozy; try Pottery Barn's denim pillows. Plus, demin just gets better with every wash.
