A few minutes in the morning can make you feel so put together for the rest of the day.
We love this advice from The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin: Make your bed every day. A freshly made bed will make your bedroom – and the rest of your life – seem more orderly.

our bed is made up a few minute's after we get up, i let it air out 1st.
ReplyNot all people feel that way.....just crawl out of bed, dress, go to work. When you return home after a long day at the office, the bed it waiting for you to crawl in.
ReplyI agree. Why make a bed you are just going to only see again when you are ready to crawl back into it? My bed gets made for only two reasons: clean sheets, company coming over.
No... you don't make the bed after you get out of it. You're supposed to let it air out to dry out the sheets etc. in order to create a less friendly environment for mites to grow. And I don't think 5-10 minutes is enough. Air it OUT for hours! I thought of this as common sense years ago and then saw an article some months ago stating the above. These people are clueless.
ReplyYep...you got that right!! High five and hip bump!
That's Right, you gotta let the "wet spots" dry out completely before putting on the new clean sheets!
I cannot get into my snuggle zone if my bed is messy before I climb in. I also like clean sheets everyother day. They are not fresh anymore if I can't smell the Downy or after none of your business....... It also important to shower before bed. Getting a good night's rest is so much easier when you are clean and sleeping on fresh sheets.
ReplyDry out your sheets? What are you doing that would make the sheets wet and would need to dry out? That's just gross. I make my bed everyday because I cannot sleep in my bed is the sheets are all messy and tangled up from the night before. And changing your sheets everyother day is a bit OCD. I'm all for cleanlyness but that's abit much
Reply"What are you doing that would make the sheets wet and would need to dry out?"
If yiu REALLY want to know ALL the fun ways to do it, I could make a list....
I make my bed at night before retiring, pulling off blankets and retucking the top sheet after looking at the entire area, and under the pillows, to make sure I have no uninvited guests, like spiders. Specifically the Brown Recluse. Once is enough! and it does feel better getting into unwrinkly sheets...
ReplyI agree - even though my bedroom is rarely seen by anyone but myself it does feel good and right to make the bed before going downstairs for the day. The reason I ususally don't do that is I simply can't bear to disturb my sleeping kitties... : )
ReplyIt's perspiration that needs to evaporate. No matter how cool you are, your body loses moisture through your pores. Not allowing it to evaporate from the sheets before making the beds makes for an environment that is friendly to the reproduction of bacteria, mold, mildew, etc. I keep the ceiling fan on, so leaving the bed unmade while cooking breakfast and showering lets it air out.
ReplyGreat idea about putting the overhead fan on to air out the sheets before making the bed in the a.m. Tanya. I always make my bed before going to work, Makes the room look neater too!
The ad says "freshly made" meaning clean sheets everyday. I change every other day.
ReplyWashing the sheets and making the bed is even better, but seriously - if you want your life to have organization, your priority does belong in the bedroom.
ReplyWe're all busy people.
If you get up, and make your mind to straighten up the bed right away, then the job's done right away, and you don't ever have to think about it all day long.
After a long day at work or at school or if you spent hours at the gym or on a nature hike, going home and showering and then being able to jump into a clean and nice-smelling bed is one of life's free rewards for living a clean and productive life!
FLUFF da PILLOWS!!!
Dang where was this article in the 60s? I would have loved to show it to my Drill Instructor when I was in the service. LOL
ReplyI make my bed in the morning before I leave for work. Can't stand to get into a messy bed. But then I am neurotic.....I also vacuum everyday whether it needs it or not.
