Wood meets magnets, sheepskin and more at BKLYN DESIGNS.

Leave it to Brooklyn to take one of furniture's biggest mainstays -- humble wood -- and make it look brand new by pairing it with just about everything. Katch's Pamela Katch chalks it up to the brilliance of contrast. "The aluminum is a cooler, more industrial material, so we wanted to warm up the Lucky Beam side table with wood," she explained. For Wüd designer Corey Springer, it's more simple. "Why not just a plain wood bench?" we asked him. "Because that's boring." Ha! After seeing these, we're starting to see where he's coming from.

Hey wood, you look great with your new friends! Here's six of our favorites:

Wood meets: Magnets and Steel cables in RockPaperRobot's Float sidetable.

Wood meets: Sheepskin in Eric Manigian's Chalet bench.

Wood meets: Felt, metal and aluminum in UM Project's Ray chair.
