The actress is selling her very Hollywood Hills mansion for $4.3 million.
Forget Peg Bundy, the cigarette-smoking and sex-starved housewife with an eye for trashy fashion and tacky furniture. In real life,
Katey Sagal is a sophisticated actor and singer with a smart sense of style and a lovely, well-dressed home in a secluded cul-de-sac in the Hollywood Hills.
Sagal, who currently stars on
Sons of Anarchy and voices the character Turanga Leela on the long-running animated series
Futurama, shares her home with her writer/producer husband
Kurt Sutter. Property records show that Sagal and Sutter scooped up their 1937 half-timber mock-Tudor style mansion for $3.7 million in the summer of 2005, shortly after they were married.
In early 2010, the Sutter-Sagals put their 7,200-square-foot mansion on the market for a reported $4.9 million. A few months -- and price chops -- later, the asking price for their six-bedroom, eight-bathroom dwelling is $4,325,000. The airy formal living room has dark chestnut-colored hardwood floors, a brick fireplace, a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and a semi-circular bump-out with a grand piano that opens out to the terraces. And oh yeah, an unobstructed view of San Fernando Valley's city lights. Nice, right?
The wood floors and panoramic view extend into the formal dining room with rough-hewn exposed wood beams, multi-paned floor-to-ceiling windows and a traditional dining set. We love the juxtaposition of classic furnishings with a contemporary drum-shaped chandelier shot through by a tube of glowing crystals.
The heart of the home is the slate-floored gourmet kitchen. Here, you'll find high-grade appliances, white glass-fronted cabinetry and a mix of butcher block and decorative blue-and-white tile countertops and back splash. (Those tiles are also used on the fireplace in the adjacent sitting area.)
The library, painted a bold and brave Chinese red, is only one of a few casual family gathering spaces. Others include a media room with a soaring vaulted ceiling, and a cozy family room with heavy exposed beams, a fireplace and French doors that open to one of the many terraces that surround the house.
A fully-equipped fitness room ensures that Sagal stays in camera-ready shape. Another celeb-worthy perk: A guest apartment with kitchen is perfect for live-in staff, extended family or guests.
While it's minutes from everything LA has to offer -- including the film and television studios in Burbank -- the property seems a million miles away. Encompassing almost three-quarters of an acre of rugged terrain with quiet, shaded patios, the house boasts brick and gravel paths that meander down and around the hillside. Tucked down below the house and swimming pool are a sport court and a custom-built tree house that's larger than some Manhattan studio apartments.
A multi-level brick terrace wraps around the back of the house and steps down to a boomerang-shaped infinity-edged swimming pool and spa with decorative Spanish tile. The hillside location offers supreme privacy and jaw-dropping views of the mountains during the day and the sparkle of the city lights at night.

I hope the guy who made the "UNDIE DRAWER" comment looses his AOL privledes for life. You sick bastard. You should be in prison..........
ReplyI feel sorry for anyone that ownes anything in california. They are gonna loose money on the deal. In fact, sell now for any price. Once the state defaults on the debt for real, it will be to late. million dollars properties are still strong they say, but dont you beleive it. I would not buy property in california at half the price. Northern california is at least somewhat safe and has a nice standard of living, but the values have fallen there also. TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN. This time next year, you will wish you had!
ReplySanti, you sound jealous, maybe you should have pursed a different career path other then the fast food industry.....
ReplyI like Katy's house, but they will have to come down on the price about a half a mil or so. I would have bought in malibu from the start, and not gotten tied up with this home. when you can afford waterfront, go for it.
ReplyThis house is marginal at best. I would look for the WOW! factor in a 4 million $ home. The features in this home can be found in a home under $600,000 in Austin where I live. I feel bad that anyone would buy this place for over a million$ but there's a sucker born every minute. Where is the WOW factor for that price?
ReplyWow, that is one beautiful house, inside and out!!
ReplyThis woman is beautiful, She's made me melt since the days of Married with children
ReplyHmmm, Nice house, however doesn't it suck that our homes are less than half what they were a few years ago, while her's increases in value by 600k?
ReplySanti....do you live in America? This is the result of the liberties afforded by the American way of life.
ReplyWhy do you refer to them as "scum"? And then post your denegrating comment insisting that they have given nothing to charity? Your assumptions are indicative of a greater problem...specifically, that of jealousy. There is no reason for your jealousy...these people have earned their income and lifestyle. You yourself are not created worthless. You have been created by a loving God with talents and gifts that perhaps you have as yet not worked diligently enough to enjoy the fruit of. Work hard...be the best person you can be. Accomplish your purpose and live without regrets, even if you live without great wealth. Be happy for the successes of others and others will be happy for your successes. Bitterness and petty jealousies only create negativity in your attitude and outlook.
Santi's comment is the attitude which makes me shudder. This actress and her husband are obviously very hard working people who deserve what they have earned. Jealously manifests its self in many forms, and is always unattractive, especially the "damn the rich" attitude.
