Why not dress up the trash? We're giving away an adorable wastebasket!

Jolie Novak, AOL

When it comes to seasonal spruce-ups, spring cleaning gets all the love. But if you ignore fall, you're missing out on the perfect opportunity to organize your home and make it the type of place where you'll feel comfy crawling under a throw blanket and popping in a DVD. So in the interest of helping you get streamlined for fall, we're running giveaways that will upgrade your basics.

Today's giveaway is a Macbeth Collection wastebasket in the adorable Capri Monaco print. At 12" tall, it's the perfect height to slide under your desk for a little oh-hello-there! when you lean down to toss old papers. Or, tuck it in the bathroom corner to add some bright orange and paisley to a room that's otherwise usually pretty white. We can't promise that it will make taking out the trash more enjoyable, or that you'll be more likely to toss out more of the gum wrappers at the bottom of your purse, but we will say this: We've never smiled at a plain black trashcan, but this cutie makes us grin.

To enter, tell us: What's your favorite decluttering tip? Or if you can't wait to win, you can buy an identical wastebasket directly from Macbeth Collection -- and even get it personalized!

I get rid of magazines after Ive had them a month. I make sure I clip anything I wanted to keep, file it in a binder, then recycle the magazine. Holding on to them just adds clutter.

Decluttering means it is already cluttered. I raised six(6) children but even since they are out this still works for me. Drag a trash can and a side bag for launderable items. (Eighty percent usually fits in these containers perfectly. I then make a second round with the duster and vacuum. Anything else found that needs to be removed goes into a pile(stack). When finished I put these items where they should go, or a box for giveaway. If a room is not over crowded with furniture, etc. this doesn't take long. Try keeping furniture to a minimum and there will be less places to clutter. Maybe getting rid of excess pieces would be part of decluttering. It has been for me in the past.

One of my favorites for decluttering is to use all those lovely crystal bowls and vases for things I want to keep handy, like hairbrushes, manicure stuff, pens and pencils, sewing notions and so on.
I line baskets with cloth dinner napkins and so the same for larger messy things. The napkins protect the contents and make even plain baskets pretty. This works for scarves, large jewelry, coupons, magazines, even maintenance things like nails, screwdrivers and tape measures.
Not quite out of sight, but manageable for my much tidier hubby!
    Thanks!

My best decluttering tip would be to stay on top of organization. Don't keep unuseful things to you, however don't just send it to the landfill. Find thrift stores, Goodwill, or the Salvation Army to take unwanted items of your hands. You not only declutter your nest, you can feel good about helping others!

For every ONE item I buy, I get rid of one item in my home. Every month or so I make an appt with Big Brothers Big Sisters and they come to my home to pick up unwanted stuff. Easy for me, helps me declutter and supports a great cause!
