Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Smith's Malibu family home built by architect Stephen Samuelson boasts natural handcrafted details and high-style comfort.
Actor Will Smith and his wife Jada are busy busy people. But the September issue of
Architectural Digest (now on newsstands) shows us that the couple is not only big on family and a cozy and comfortable home, they also have an appreciation for craftsmanship. Their 25,000-square-foot Malibu hideout, which was designed by architect Stephen Samuelson, perfectly reflects that love of the handmade. "For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavor," Jada says. "We're very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land."

The indoor-outdoor living room (below) has an airy and luxurious atmosphere and is decorated with custom-made lounge seating, kilim-and-leather-upholstered wing chairs, and unexpected details such as jute-rope-covered columns. We love the openness of the living room and we really see the home's "adobe style."

The mix of polished woods, patterns, and rustic accents like the bunk bed in a bedroom really add to the earthy and homey charm throughout the house.
This bedroom with its canopy bed and jewel-tone cushions bring a touch of Moroccan glamour.
