Ever heard of Belarusian textiles? I hadn't either, until a bit of research on textile history landed me on this site. Gorgeous, no? Turns out Belarusian textiles originated from the weaving of Russian belts with ornamental fabrics, which could take up to a year to make. The belts were used to distinguish tribes, signify power and offer peace.
