Back in 2006, Elle Decor ran some great photos of Sarah Jessica Parker's Hamptons beach house (Elle Decoration in the UK also ran the film). I clipped the pages and saved them because not only was SJP's apartment stylish, it was filled with affordable ideas I actually thought I could recreate at home. Case in point: This adorable guest bedroom. Here's a quick recipe for dressing a room with a similar look.

The Legacy of Madeleine Castaing

I love eccentrics, so it makes total sense that I am one of the many fans of French decorator Madeliene Castaing's quirky, iconoclastic style. She combined crazy patterns with oddball furniture and mixed styles and periods -- a bit unheard of in her day and age. She was the original mix-it-upper!
