The 727 Fuselage Suite: Yep, You're Sleeping in an Airplane

In the heart of Costa Rica lies a hotel fit for Amelia Earhart herself. And I'm not talking your average luxury, chocolates-on-the-pillow sort of spot either. Labeled "the most exclusive hotel suite in Costa Rica," the 727 Fuselage Suite is a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 airframe which, in a previous life, shuttled globetrotters to and from South Africa.

Ricardo Bofill's Concrete Loft in Barcelona

According to LoftLife Magazine, the renovations began 35 years ago when Bofill discovered an "abandoned cement factory comprised of over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms." But what exists now is a beautifully furnished, open space full of Spanish charm and modern details.

Far-Flung Friday: York House is Pretty in Portugal

Until now. The York House in Lisboa, Portugal has changed my views -- one lovingly decorated room at a time. With modern, crisp furnishings and an incredible scenic exterior, the York House has had my heart going pitter-pattering for Portugal since, ohhhh...9am this morning. Once a former convent, the York House became a hotel in early 1880. Of course, the "hotel" housed one small oven and offered a spare bedroom for rent. Almost 130 years later, the York House has come a long way, baby.

The Perforated House

In a quiet, simple neighborhood in Melbourne, Australia lies a luminescent light box that would fit in more among Hollywood set designs than between Victorian town homes and Edwardian terraces. Of course, the community is just as confused about this building as we were. "That hideous screen!" is a common comment from a neighbor across the road. But passersby seem to differ, and many Aussies love the ingenuity involved. In fact, the property recently sold last month for an impressive $730,000.

Bloesem's Oasis in Kuala Lumpur

The power girl behind both Bloesem, a haven for all things beautiful, and BKids (which I would hardly call a mommy blog), Irene has an uncanny ability to style the world around her. Naturally, Irene's home is just as I imagined it would be: clean, organic and modern. I asked her to walk us through a few favorite spaces in her new Kuala Lumpur home, and she was so kind to oblige -- just a few short weeks after moving in!

Mid-Century Modern London Dream House

This Horsford Road townhome in the heart of London has been giving me a bit of a cardiac issue this morning -- sweaty pits and all. I'm in LOVE. I don't use that word lightly, either. (Actually, I do, but in this case it's TRUE love.)
