Under $100: Pendant Lamps

Here are gorgeous hanging pendant lamps, each for under $100.

The Ball jar plant dripper project couldn't be easier. Simply fill a Ball jar with water, punch a hole in the jar's lid and string a cotton cord from the water to the planter. The cord will serve as a conductor of water from the jar to the plant's roots. No green thumb needed.

When I first saw South African designer Haldane Martin's home tour on Apartment Therapy, I thought he had fallen victim to a toilet-papering prank. After all, what else could be hanging from that gorgeous white planked ceiling in such a nonchalant fashion? However, upon closer inspection, a second glance revealed the source of this immaculate lighting -- ostrich feathers. I hunted down Haldane Martin to ask just what his reasoning was for flipping the bird to a traditional pendant...

Wire Lamp Shades, Live From Scandinavia

Scandinavian design is so dang cool. And OK, I have no idea where Scandinavia is located on the map (geography was never my strongest suit), but I'd venture to say it's right between "trend" and "setter." I so envy the room designs that emerge from that area -- full of white, bright walls, painted floors, quirky artwork and vintage textiles. In other words --- heaven on earth!
