Ricardo Bofill's Concrete Loft in Barcelona

According to LoftLife Magazine, the renovations began 35 years ago when Bofill discovered an "abandoned cement factory comprised of over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms." But what exists now is a beautifully furnished, open space full of Spanish charm and modern details.

Far-Flung Friday: York House is Pretty in Portugal

Until now. The York House in Lisboa, Portugal has changed my views -- one lovingly decorated room at a time. With modern, crisp furnishings and an incredible scenic exterior, the York House has had my heart going pitter-pattering for Portugal since, ohhhh...9am this morning. Once a former convent, the York House became a hotel in early 1880. Of course, the "hotel" housed one small oven and offered a spare bedroom for rent. Almost 130 years later, the York House has come a long way, baby.
